The maker behind Casa

Twenty five years of beautiful windows

Joanna, founder and creative director of Casa by Joanna

Thank you for spending a little time with Casa. Your home is the most personal space you will ever own. It should hold your mornings and your evenings, your quiet moments and your fullest celebrations, and it should do so beautifully.

Joanna's handwritten signature

Casa by Joanna began with a simple conviction: that the difference between a decorated room and a beautiful one lives in the making. In the depth of an interlined curtain, the level fold of a hand sewn roman blind, the pattern that matches perfectly across a pair.

Joanna trained with the National Design Academy in Nottingham and was later employed there as a tutor, teaching soft furnishings and interior design to the next generation of designers. Over more than 25 years her work has ranged from single windows in family homes to complete show homes and corporate office interiors in London, including projects for Panattoni.

Today she works from her Nottinghamshire workroom, and every Casa project, whatever its size, gets the same treatment: Joanna measures, Joanna designs, Joanna makes, Joanna fits. There are no juniors and no subcontracted workrooms, which is why the standard never varies.

The workroom

Where it is all made

Every curtain, blind and cushion is measured, cut and sewn by hand in the Casa workroom. Pattern, weight and drop are decided at the window, never from a catalogue, and nothing leaves the workroom unfinished: hand pleated headings, weighted hems and pattern matching across every width are the quiet marks of a curtain made properly.
